Green Life Medical College (GLMC) was established in 2009, with the first batch of students beginning their MBBS journey in 2010. On the other hand, Dhaka is genuinely far from the Indian border — approximately 220 km from Benapole and 4–5 hours by road. For students who want to visit home frequently or for parents who want easy visiting access, colleges closer to the border (like Ad-din Sakina in Jashore) are more practical.

That said, Dhaka Airport has direct flights to Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and multiple Indian cities, and the flight to Kolkata takes only around 45–50 minutes. For families willing to fly, the distance is entirely manageable. Many Indian students at GLMC fly home for major holidays and summer breaks without significant logistical challenge.

Is Green Life Medical College Right for Your Child?

Here is my honest framework for who should choose GLMC and who should consider alternatives:

Green Life is an excellent choice if: Your child wants premium infrastructure in a major city. Your family is comfortable with a higher budget in the $44,000–$47,000 range. Your child values clinical exposure from a functioning private hospital. City life, access to good food and amenities, and a cosmopolitan student environment matter to you. You are not prioritising closeness to the Indian border over college quality.

Consider other options if: Budget is a primary constraint and you need to stay closer to the $33,000–$38,000 range. Your daughter’s safety requires strict institutional curfews and a more controlled environment. You need the college to be close to the West Bengal border for easy parent visits or emergency access.

NMC Validity & BM&DC Compliance

Green Life Medical College fully satisfies all four pillars of the NMC FMGE Regulations 2021. The 5-year course (60 months) exceeds the NMC’s 54-month minimum. The mandatory 1-year internship is completed at the affiliated Green Life Hospital. Students receive BM&DC registration on completion, fulfilling NMC’s host-country licensing requirement.
